Meet Paul Winkler #509 from Oak Harbor, Washington

I'm Paul Winkler, Originally I'm from PLacerville Ca. . I've been riding since I was in the 3rd grade and actually started racing when I got into the 4th. My number has evolved from 11 to 10 to 509 to 5 and then back to 509 again. 10 was my original AMA number in Cali. and 509 was my CMC number. 509 is what I have registered with the AMA, now. Incidentally 509 is also my Birth Certificate number, too!I was the 509th baby to be born in 1973! I didn't realize that coincidence until recently.

I had a dry spell of riding and racing for a while. The past two seasons I raced at Hannegans Speedway on a 1992 Honda CR500R! I ran the open-D class in 05 & 06 because I had to learn how to race all over again on the beast. I had help from friends like Dave Pras 883 and John and Justin Glanville and now Torre Streifthau, 258.

This year I have a new bike and I'm running 509 on my 06 KX450. Hopefully I can get in all the races this year and do better than the past two seasons, but I'm active duty military and it can be tough making all the Thursdays.
